Bernhard Russi-Run
The glacier run on the Gemsstock is called the Bernhard Russi Run in honor of the Olympic champion from Sapporo: “It’s my favorite slope and one of the most beautiful runs in the Alps. It’s also sensational for carvers,” says Russi, praising the 4-kilometre run. In winter 98/99, the Bernhard Russi Run Downhill took place for the first time: 3.5 km long, 850 vertical meters, four gates and 100 km/h average speed. 18 participants tried to beat the target time set by Bernhard Russi. This unique event was won by Ian Russi, son of Olympic champion Bernhard.
